Change your life with 7 days of Selfies

7 Days of Selfies

“That shot that girls take together, man, they know what they’re doing. The flash hits so hard that everything behind their hair becomes arbitrary darkness; their environment suggested only by the cut of the dress and the colour of the beverage. That’s your life. That’s your self. When you hand the camera to someone else, you break that electrical circuit of hand to lens to eye to vanity. I’ve never seen any truth in that and I never expect to.”

– John Mayer

I have to confess, I’m a little bit renowned for Selfies amongst my friends, colleagues, and acquaintances.

In fact, my Selfie skill has become a bit of a joke in one particular circle of TV folks that I may never live it down.

When my best friend and I were in our teens, we perfected the bestie selfie that John Mayer is talking about. I don’t exaggerate when I say that I have HUNDREDS of photos of us on various nights out – our dresses serving as the only visual identifier of the night in question and the accompanying memories!

Not to mention the countless TV wrap parties (celebrating when filming of the show has ‘wrapped’) I’ve been to, running around capturing moments of hilarity and nights to remember (albeit a little hazily).

And then Instagram happened and its impact on the Selfie phenomenon requires very little explanation. #selfie. ‘Nuff said.

Let’s face it, Selfies are a thing. A part of our cultural identity even. And something that is obviously just part of our journey, perhaps.

Mock them, detest them, or love them because Y.O.L.O, whatever floats your boat, friend. I’ve decided to have no opinion (for once) and instead use them as a way to help you take a closer look at…you.

A different kind of Selfie

No doubt you’re all over the Selfie. You know the best angle to get the version of ‘you’ that you’re after. You know which way to stand and the best face to pull. (Duck face? Naturally.)

But are you self aware about the other parts of  you with the same clarity?

When you flick through the camera roll, looking for the best of the bunch, do you know when you see it straight away and think, ‘That’s the one.’? The one that you’ll allow yourself to put out into the world (or the WWW) for anyone to see?

But do you know what you’re looking for when you’re feeling down and out and in need of a little self compassion?

We’re becoming our own media experts, our own PR pros; we kind of have to be these days, perhaps to the detriment of looking inside and really knowing ourselves. Because we’re so busy doing damage control after being tagged in a tragic pic or making sure that everyone knows we got a killer view of the ocean this morning. Where’s the time to actually look at our whole selves and make sure everything is running smoothly?

I’ve been thinking about this so much lately (and wondering all these things about myself as well), so I thought maybe it was time to focus that lens in on all the other selfies that are devoid of social media hashtags.

I’ve mentioned some of them above – self awareness, self compassion – the Selfies we sometimes avoid focusing in on.

And I’m ready to shine a big old flash on them (think those big, vintage flash bulbs that emit a puff of smoke when they go off).

7 Days of Selfies

What am I talking about? I’m talking about 7 days of Selfies. Not taking a photo of you and posting it on various social media platforms like the usual photo-a-day-style challenge.

I’m talking taking a snapshot of YOU. The real you. The unfiltered, untouched, imperfect you, maybe sometimes even unphotogenic you.

Not looking back through the photo albums of your past.

But creating a panoramic of Selfies.

(Are you getting tired of the photo analogy? I don’t know if I’m hating it already or if I’m just getting started!)

7 Days of Selfies is just for you (and, did I mention it’s free?)

Think, mini eCourse (small, but potent, thought nuggets delivered straight to your inbox). A little audio from me to introduce the Selfie of the day and then some thought provoking (and loving) jabs right to the heart of the matter.

The essence of you.

Intrigued?

Itching to know more?

Are you:

:: Wondering what your next step is?

:: Sick of feeling like you’re just floating through your life?

:: Frustrated because of resistance somewhere that you just can’t put your finger on?

:: Starting to think that you’re holding back in your life or getting in your own way?

:: Feeling out of touch with yourself and in need of a mini reset?

:: Just so damn lost and beat down that you don’t know what to do?

Oh boy, have I got what you need.

This mini eCourse is just that. Mini. I know you’re busy and you’ve got responsibilities and obligations coming out the wazoo. Chances are your inbox is overflowing and you really don’t need another thing to feel guilty about or taking up time in your week.

I get it.

That’s the point.

It’s teeny tiny to fit into a few minutes at the beginning or end of your day. Just to get you thinking about what COULD be, if you’d just let it.

7 Days of Selfies kicks off August 7th and if you want in, you’ll need to register here.

Ready to take on the challenge? Know someone who’d probably like it too?

Make sure you register so you don’t miss out and share this post, so you’re not hogging all the Selfie love.

I can’t wait to share this with you next week!
