1. Planning Your Time Off

First, get clear on the dates and the purpose of your time away.

  • Will this be a complete sabbatical where you fully disconnect, or will you still check in on things occasionally?
  • What do you need to finalise before you take time off?
  • How do you want to nurture your audience or maintain a presence while you’re away?
  • What would you like to have set up so that you can ease back to work without feeling the pressure to immediately go into launch mode? 

Having a clear plan will help you stay focused and communicate your availability to clients or your audience.

2. Nurture Your Audience

You don’t need to go radio silent while you’re away. Pre-schedule content, set up email autoresponders, and automate your social media posts to keep your audience engaged.

This way, you’ll maintain that connection without having to be present in real-time.

And what might that look like for you?

Some examples could include doing round up and reflection posts, repurposing content, creating an evergreen sequence, or having a gentle promotion happening while you’re away to prepare for when you return.

3. Pre-Sell Your Offers

One of the best ways to keep revenue flowing during your time off is by preselling services or products before you go.

Whether it’s a course, workshop, or 1:1 services, offering something now that delivers later is a great way to sustain income without the pressure of actively selling while you’re away.

SOme ideas for what that can look like, include:

  • Pre-selling your 1:1 packages at an early bird price and a limited number of spots to work with you in the new year.

  • Bundling together some of your digital products and creating an end of year/new year mini bundle or offer.

  • Creating and launching a workshop that will really support your audience, and then packaging the replay and any resources to sell on automation while you’re offline.

  • Sharing affiliate links and highlighting your offers within your evergreen content and emails.

Crafting Your Sabbatical Strategy

Every solopreneur is different, and your sabbatical plan should reflect your energy levels and business goals. Here are three pathways to consider as you plan:

  • Mid-Energy Plan: If you still want to generate income but don’t have the capacity for a major launch, preselling services or 1:1 offers can be an ideal solution.
  • High-Energy Plan: If you’re ready to launch something new, this is the time to create a low-ticket offer or product that can be sold passively while you’re away.
  • Nurture Plan: Want to focus on keeping your audience warm? Create a content series, schedule nurture emails, and automate social posts to maintain engagement without being “on.”

Assess your energy levels and capacity, then choose the path that makes the most sense for where you’re at right now.

And remember, especially if you haven’t thought about doing this before or you are just starting out, this is your chance to create the simplest plan and build on it over time.

You don’t have to do it all right now.

Over time, you will grow and evolve your plan so you have many options and ideas to play with. Choose the easy option for you to start with for now.
